I have a recording of my beloved little adopted bossy Dobie, Harp, barking impatiently for her 11am slice of apple. She ran on ahead (passed) in 2016, breaking my heart in two, but I still regularly pull up the video to pull her back into my life. She and I were constantly struggling to grab the wheel and “drive the bus“ when she was alive, and oh how I cherish that bossy bark now! 💙

And you are so correct: The silence after is a violent thing, alas.

That’s awesome that you knew you wanted those sounds. Only last year I was cleaning up my Google Voice account and found a voicemail from my mother from 2011. We had a complicated relationship but somehow I miss the sound of her voice. She’s been gone four years. So every once in a while, I pull it up to hear her.

That’s great! I also have a couple v-mails from my mom talking about 🤦‍♀️ the weather in Michigan, which I save and listen to sometimes because NOW I miss her telling me what the weather is doing there :)

I’ve always thought one should record their toddlers learning to talk for when the toddlers are adults—that would be fascinating, at least for me it would. A look into their cognitive processes. No kids in my life to do it with and save though, only doggos!! Yay!

Only dogs for me too but yeah, what a great idea for the breeder humans. 😂

“Breeder Humans” Oh lord I like that! My family members were breeders, I guess, and things didn’t turn out very well. That’s one reason I became a 4-legger adopter! They need good homes, and don’t act entitled about them! Sigh. 🌝

This is beautiful. I have recordings of most of my past dogs' barks.

That is wonderful. I hope you listen to them when you need to feel them present.

Thank you for sharing. Bella is beautiful (I had a Bella, too-fawn Great Dane) and the clip of her bark made me smile. I received my book yesterday and it's great! Looking forward to finishing it soon.

Oh! Please let me know what you think.

Tears. Thanks for this. My pup is in my lap right now. I want to record her wake-up yawns in the morning, which sound like whines but are just her It's breakfast! sounds, along with her Squirrel Alerts! I already have videos of her organizing the couch pillows just right, and oh so joyous rolling in the grass antics 🐾

Oh and the snoring. Don’t miss the snoring! But every time I try, I manage to wake her up.
